Mold Inspection (License #MRSA2611)

What is Mold?

Mold is a naturally occurring and common fungus. Mold is generally harmless outdoors, but when it grows inside a home or business it can toxify and cause serious allergic reactions and respiratory issues in some individuals. Since mold grows in damp and humid conditions, water damage that is not addressed in a timely manner could create an environment that is prime for mold growth.

When Should You Schedule A Mold Inspection?

Mold may be visible inside your home or office, but it often grows in humid areas around sinks, ceilings, baseboards or flooring where it can remain hidden from view. If you suspect you may have a mold issue, scheduling a mold inspection is the first, and most important, step to confirm any hidden mold growth. Below are some of the most frequent reasons why people order mold inspections:

Common Reasons For Ordering Mold Inspections

  • You see possible growth on furniture, vents, baseboards or other personal belongings
  • You smell something musty, damp or outdoorsy
  • Someone in the house is constantly getting sick
  • You are buying a house or entering into a long-term lease
  • There has been recent water damage at the property
  • Someone in the house has a chronic respiratory issue like asthma
  • You live in an old home

What is Mold Testing?

Mold Inspection results will determine what type of Mold Testing is necessary. A certified mold inspector will take mold and air samples and send them to a certified laboratory for analysis. Customers will receive a copy of the lab results which will identify the type of mold that is present (toxic mold, black mold, allergenic mold or pathogenic mold) and the extent of the mold growth. If there is evidence of mold detected, a detailed mold remediation report and a mold remediation protocol can be provided.

Important note: If you hire a certified mold assessor or mold inspector to do a professional assessment at your home, you cannot use that same company to perform a mold remediation or mold removal for 13-months.
